Hello and Happy Valentine's Day!! Wow, did I say that? YES it is February and time for Valentine's Day, although I swear we just had Christmas last week.
If you have been here reading on Hungry Little Girl for very long you have seen my posts. My name is Dawn and I write Spatulas On Parade. My dear friend Jutta and I have been hosting "guest post" for the holidays. This has been great fun and it is our hope that you enjoy reading these as much as we are enjoying writing them.
Valentine's Day in the U.S. is a big deal for retailers and florist. The price of a dozen roses will triple and finer restaurants will have lines outside. Chocolate sales will sky rocket and Hallmark cards will make a mint!
For us we usually eat out the day before or after Valentine's Day due to the long lines and jacked up prices. It is not about Feb. 14th but about showing love and spending time with each other that is important. When my kids were little we made homemade gifts. In recent years, even as adults, they have made homemade cards for me, which I enjoy so much more than a store bought one.
We do not follow normal traditions. I am a very practical person and if my husband bought me a dozen roses and spent $75 I would freak out! I would be very upset. They are cut flowers and will only last a week, two at best. It is a waste of money to me. Don't get me wrong, I love flowers, but he could buy me flowers to plant and I'd be a lot happier or he could buy me one single rose for $2 at the gas station and I would not care. I want to know I am loved all year, not just one day. Romantic, huh? (ha)
We don't go for the stuffed animal, flowers, candy and dinner routine that most do. NOW if he showed up with a piece of jewelry I would NOT turn that down! :D
For food, my husband wants something that spells love to him. That means food in general. So I am sharing some of his favorite things.

I hope you have enjoyed these recipes, that you'll stop by the BLOG and try one or more of these out. If you try one, please stop by and let me know.
Enjoy your day with loved ones, whether it is a spouse, child, parent, or just a friend. Remember, none of us are promised tomorrow, so tell those you care about, what they mean to you today.
Happy Eating!
Dawn
