reamy filled whole wheat applesauce bread
This bread happened, because it was 8pm and I got hungry! I had apples leftover, so I wanted to use them, somehow!
A plain apple bread seemed so boring, I thought if I go all crazy in my kitchen that late, it should be something I can put on this blog, so I had to come up with something good ;)

This is basically an applesauce bread, filled with a apple cheesecake mixture!
I loved it! My hubby and me poured vanilla sauce over the warm bread and it was amazing. Two days later (I thought it wouldn't be good anymore), we just heat it up in the microwave and it was like when it first got out of the oven - amazing!

What you need

The dough:
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup applesauce
2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda

The Filling:
8 ounces cream cheese
2 apples, chopped
1 cup powdered sugar
1/3 cup applesauce
How you make it

Preheat your oven to 350 F
Line a 8 inch brownie pan with parchment paper

  • In a large bowl combine heavy cream, butter and applesauce until smooth
  • Fold in flour, cinnamon, vanilla, baking powder and soda until just combined
  • Transfer half the dough into baking pan, spread out to fill the whole dish
  • Now in a medium bowl bring together cream cheese, powdered sugar and applesauce for the filling, mix until smooth
  • Fold in chopped apples and pour over bottom dough
  • Place remaining dough over the filling
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes

Enjoy warm, maybe with some vanilla sauce on top ;)

*Bread tastes amazing even two days later after heating up in the microwave for 25 seconds!
